| Korea's biggest island, Jeju Island, is comparable in beauty to Hawaii or Bali. Rising up in the center of the island is Mt. Halla, the highest mountain in Korea with a crater lake at its summit. Surrounded by water and with a subtropical climate, the island has strangely shaped rocks, swamps, parasitic volcanoes, and diverse flora of more than 2,000 species including subtropical and temperate zone plants.
Tourists can enjoy each season in Jeju with a particular splash of color; brilliantly yellow flowers in the spring that spread across the landscape, the golden beaches and sea vistas in the summertime, the Eulalia's light brown wispy reeds flowing in the autumn winds, and the lovely snow flowers covering Mt. Halla in the winter are all must-sees of Jeju. |

| Gyeongju which is called the "Museum without walls", was once the capital of the Shilla Dynasty. UNESCO designated it as one of the world's ten most historically significant sites. The outstanding cultural assets remaining here are evidence of this. Splendid cultural legacies are scattered throughout the city including Bulguksa, Seokguram, the Silla gold crown and numerous Buddhist images.
Andong Hahoe Village has preserved the housing architecture and the village structure of the Joseon dynasty. Moreover, the village was not artificially created; there are people who actually live there. There are 180 families residing within the village and they are known as the group village of the Pungsan Ryu family. There are houses designated as National treasures. |

In November 1965, the Seoraksan Mountains district was designated as a Natural Monument preservation area.
